In July 2022, Parks Victoria and the VEFN conducted two workshops (face-to-face and online) to address the concerns of Friend Groups with the Parks Victoria Volunteer Manual. The workshops were facilitated and enabled everyone to put forward their experiences in a constructive manner with time in the face-to-face workshop to put forward solutions and ideas for addressing the issues.

Unfortunately, progress since then has been slow but we have recently received communication that Parks Victoria would like to proceed with addressing issues in 2023.

Parks Victoria would like to:

  • Build stronger trusting relationships between PV, VEFN and local volunteer groups
  • Review the volunteering manual –  ‘user friendliness’, format and readability
  • Create a user group for ParkConnect
  • Clarify the WWCC definitions
  • Share communications and updates

The VEFN would like to see the concerns of our Friend Group members addressed with the burden of administration removed and the important environmental work to be undertaken with good relationships between all involved.

If you feel strongly on this issue, please join our PV Volunteer Manual Subcommittee so that we can work progressively and collaborately to a good outcome.
