We love hearing how the funding from our Best Friend Award is put to good use in the environment. Here is an excerpt from the City of Kingston’s Community Newsletter about Nina Earl, the recipient of the previous BFA Award.
“… Friends Group put grant funding to work – Local environmental volunteer, Nina Earl, recently received a $1000 grant from the Victorian Environment Friends Network and she has been working with Council’s Conservation Officers on putting the funds towards an exciting project at Bradshaw Bushland Reserve! Last week her vision came to life, with the installation of a total of 11 bat, bird and habitat boxes at the reserve, to help attract and support native wildlife. Pictured here is Nina onsite, to celebrate the commencement of the project along with Kingston’s Conservation Team and Local Ward Councillor Tim Cochrane. Nina is an active member of Kingston’s ‘Friends of Bradshaw Bushland Reserve’ environmental volunteering group, which hosts regular working bees and conservation events. Join a local group near you, there are various Friends Groups in Kingston. …”
